How to choose a topic and a title for a blog post.
Determining direction for blog posts:
* Choose a topic to write about.
* At a high level, write educational content.
* Create a title.
Put yourself in the shoes of your buyer personas.
Write about your industry, not yourself.
Sample questions to ask:
* What are the most frequently asked questions you hear?
* What do your prospects and customers need help with?
* What do you wish people knew about our industry?
* What are industry bloggers, social media, and even our competitors talking about?
Pick a topic:
* General topic:
"running shoes"
* Narrow topic:
"Best running shoes for marathones"
"Lifetime of running shoes"
When picking your topic, do keyword research.
Which keywords do your buyer personas use? Which are associated with your industry?
Focus on one long-tail keyword per post.
Long-Tail Keyword
A very targeted search phrase that contains three or more words.
The head terms you choose should align with the topics you want your business to be known for.
Start by creating a working title.
Topic "Social Media"
Working title "Top social media channels for live video in 2022"
For almost every piece of content, come up with at least 5-10 different titles.
Once you make a list, send to a co-worker to get their opinion.
Make the value of the post clear.
Set the right expectations-what is the reader going to get out of it?
How long should a blog post title be?
* The ideal blog post title length is 60 characters.
* Headlines between 8 and 12 words are shared most often on Twitter.
* Headlines between 12 and 14 words are liked most often on Facebook.
Headlines ending with a bracketed clarification performed 38% better than titles without that clarification.
Put your title at the begining of the title.
