A Mystery in the Snow Short Story (200–250 words)

Short Story (200–250 words)

A Mystery in the Snow

The first snowfall of winter covered the entire village in white silence. Early one morning, I noticed something strange outside my window—footprints in the snow leading from our gate to the old abandoned house at the end of the street. No one had lived there for years. Curious and a little scared, I decided to follow them.

The footprints were fresh and deep, as if someone had walked there in a hurry. As I reached the house, I heard a soft sound, like someone crying. My heart started beating fast. I slowly pushed open the creaking door and called out softly. Inside, I found a lost little dog, shivering in the cold. Its paw was injured, and it had taken shelter there to escape the freezing wind.

I wrapped the dog in my scarf and carried it home carefully. My mother helped clean its wound and gave it warm milk. Soon, the dog stopped shaking and wagged its tail happily. Later that evening, we found its owner, a young boy who had been searching for his pet since morning.

The mystery of the footprints was finally solved. That snowy day taught me that sometimes mysteries don’t hide fear, but kindness waiting to be discovered.
